SUMMARY:12 Steps\, Traditions & Concepts: Discussion @ 12:30\, prior to regular ASC meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us at 12:30 for a discussion of the 12 Steps\, Traditions and Concepts. This will take place before the regularly scheduled ASC meeting (same login for both). See you there! \n12 Steps\, Traditions and Concepts: We will discuss these at 12:30 on Sunday\, 11/15/20\, prior to the November ASC Meeting which starts at 2pm (same login) \nJoin Zoom Meeting\, Sunday November 15: 12 Steps\, Traditions and Concepts discussion\, 12:30pm \n\nhttps://us04web.zoom.us/j/8995391599?pwd=czA2emlKa2o0eDZKd2Z3YU90T295UT09\n\nCall in option from landline or smartphone: dial (929) 205-6099\nMeeting ID: 899 539 1599\nPasscode: 343514\n\n\n\n12 Steps: \nThese are the basis of personal recovery in the program of Narcotics Anonymous. They teach spiritual principles that can be applied in everyday life. This is to be worked with a sponsor and they facilitate the changes needed to learn to live a new life without the use of drugs. They are the most recognizable of all of NA. \n12 Traditions: \nAlthough these Traditions are read at most NA meetings\, most members do not recognize their vital importance to the program. These Traditions outline our program and teaches how to apply the spiritual principles learned in the Steps. The reading tells us that the unity of the program depends on following these guidelines.  The reason for the Traditions is stated: “By following these guidelines in our dealings with others\, and society at large\, we avoid many problems.” \n\nWe can use all that NA teaches us to improve our everyday life\, and the Traditions are not an exception. The Basic Text states\n“Many of our problems are like those that our predecessors had to face. Their hard won experience gave birth to the Traditions\, and our own experience has shown that these principles are just as valid today as they were when these Traditions were formulated.”\nThe Traditions have stood the test of time. The Basic text\, and other NA literature\, goes into more detail than the reading. It is important to have a working knowledge of the Traditions when in a service position.\nThere are meetings that study the traditions as their format. However\, a basic understanding can be learned by reading the details in the Text and asking questions of sponsors or others with experience. The Text is written in a specific order. The Steps are written before the Traditions\, this does not mean that we cannot apply the teachings found in the traditions; we learn spiritual principles that make applying them easier\n\n12 Concepts: \nThese are read at the Area Service Meeting every month\, and the concept corresponding to the number of the month is read in detail. \n\nYou might hear a member say something about a concept regarding service on all levels. Although these are not mentioned in the Basic Text\, they are discussed in detail in other NA literature.\nThere is a small booklet that can be downloaded from our website\, na.dev.wowbrands.com/\, or directly from this link: https://www.na.org/admin/include/spaw2/uploads/pdf/litfiles/us_english/Booklet/Twelve%20Concepts.pdf\nThis booklet gives a complete detail of all the Concepts. There is another book that gives a lot more information regarding service in the program: “A Guide to Local Services in Narcotics Anonymous” which you can get here: https://www.na.org/admin/include/spaw2/uploads/pdf/GLS.pdf\nThe explanation offered is: “The 12 Concepts for NA Service described here are intended to be practically applied to our service structure at every level. The spiritual ideals of our steps and traditions provide the basis for these concepts\, which are tailored to the specific needs of our fellowship’s service structure. The concepts encourage our groups to more readily achieve our tradition’s ideals\, and our service structure to function effectively and responsibly.”

Area service committees around the world bring meetings into correctional facilities\, provide information to various professionals\, and interact with members of the public over NA phonelines and in planning NA events. And yet\, there is still room for us to grow. We can grow by taking on a more active role in our relationships with members of the public. SUMMARY:Reopening Meetings #2: A Roundtable Session for Homegroups to share ESH
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our second Roundtable discussion\, where we talk about best practices and barriers to reopening\, where HomeGroups raise questions and give ESH on reopening. Our first Roundtable was on 06/07/20 and was very productive with lots of great input\, ideas\, and questions. A big THANK YOU to all who could attend. (Scroll down past the images for some info your homegroup might find helpful when making decisions about reopening.) \nRoundtable starts at 6:30 EDT\, doors open at 6:00. \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/88930829913 \nDial in (646) 558-8656 \n \n \n  \nClick here for notes from our first Homegroup Roundtable discussion about reopening. \nClick here for slides from the first Homegroup Roundtable. \nClick here for the American Rivers Area of NA Reopening packet. \nHere is a link to the New England Region’s (nerna.org) “Our Virtual Presence” packet for sessions 1-3. There are notes\, slides\, bulletins and lots of other useful info to consider during your group consciences. NERNA PACKET \nClick here for a quick YouTube video for info on how to set up a hybrid meeting. \n\nThe COASCNA PR Area Subcommittee will facilitate a conversation among area Homegroups and other interested NA members about reopening in-person meetings. The suggested guidance is pieced together from ESH from other groups\, areas\, regions\, and local and national information about coronavirus\, COVID-19\, social distancing guidelines\, and orders from the Ohio Department of Health and the Governor’s Office.\nIt is not meant to be interpreted as instructions on how to proceed or permission to reopen. Homeroups are free to do what they decide\, and will be liable for how they choose to proceed\, along with the facility that is renting to them\, or any other space they are using.\nThe PR Area Subcommittee is simply offering information on where to find more information\, to make suggestions on what kinds of things Homegroups might want to consider\, so that they can decide by group conscience whether they are following all applicable laws and orders while offering in-person meetings.\nSuggestions and resources offered by the PR Area Subcommittee are not an exhaustive list\, and all responsibility for ensuring that all community standards and legal requirements are met lies with the Homegroups.
